personal medications into and out of Canada

Regulations seem strange for taking medications into Canada and returning to US. What have forum members experienced? I will be on the road for over 5 weeks and get medications in 90 day bottles and will be taking all of them with me. Sounds like I need paperwork that I don't have since I get them fulfilled electronically. thanks

  • We've never been asked about medicines, while crossing the border in either direction. We do carry prescriptions in the original containers.

  • As long as they are in original bottles I have had no problems. Not just Canada, but everywhere else as well.
  • While I alway ask my doctor's for hand (well now machine) written prescriptions to carry prior to a trip, I've crossed the Canadian border many times, and never been asked about meds.
  • When I went to Australia, I got my pharmacist to give me a one page list of my prescription medications. They were carried in my day-pack or carry on luggage.

That's all you need crossing any boundaries.
