You should be fine to the ATM past the first toll booth.

It's a lot easier and faster to use an ATM. Let the card company know you'll be using the card in Mexico or else they'll shut it off.

Thank you I didn't word that right,I have about $1700.00 in pesos,need pesos for immigration,tolls and gas if cc doesnt work

Try to hook up with someone just returning who may have some excess pesos you can buy at a discount rate...

There is an ATM @ the first check point on the toll road. This is just south of the first toll booth. But I doubt the toll booth will take loonies. There are some currency exchanges in Nogales,az. Maybe someone will post a location.
