Planning trip to Charleston SC

Looking for suggestions on campgrounds in Charleston SC. I saw on the internet that James Island County Park is not too far. And also offers a shuttle ride to the downtown area. Any thoughts?
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the James Island County Park Campground. It was a very short drive into downtown and parking was easy to find. We did all the tourist stuff but especially enjoyed following the walking tour provided in our AAA tour book.
  • James Island County Park or KOA Mt Pleasant are the two best in Charleston. JICP does offer the shuttle for a fee and will save you the hassle of trying to find a place to park. If you have dogs, the JICP dog park has a nice run area along with sand beach and water.
