Many say that this happens all the time in the US. I don't agree. It is not the same as what many want to compare it to a lone shooter in a movie theater or a wack job that shoots a school yard up. This is organized crime and the government having to resort to using military personnel and equipment to attempt to control their actions. Without a spin and discounting the danger in any area where military action is deployed can someone really say it is safe to so to this area where this action is likely to repeat the same events again? I know that if the military was deployed in the US to resolve an issue of this magnitude in a tourist destination I would not return until I knew for a fact that the bad element was positively removed with no likelihood of their return.
I think most Americans would generally agree with this statement. I go and will continue to go to Puerto Penasco; most people I know see no point in going anymore. That's fine with me as it slows development & keeps crowds down. So far one person who was there has responded to this thread.
