Question on North Carolina travel

Going to be in NC this summer, 40' class A pulling a Jeep.....Will be in Raleigh and plan to go from there to Kitty Hawk...

I plan to take the Interstate east from Raleigh through Rocky Mount and Williamston. From there stay on the hwy, looks like 64/94 direct to Kitty Hawk area.....

Any issues with this route, esp between Williamston and the Kitty Hawk area??
  • Travel this route regularly towing 39' 5er. As mentioned, roads are good all the way. Just be cautious once you get around the Alligator River. Two lanes for quite awhile with the usual distracted drivers coming towards you and a ditch immediately to your right for miles - no shoulder. Not dangerous, you just need to pay attention.

Good road all the way - Watch your speed in two places - (1) from Williamston through Plymouth - 4 lanes, but 55MPH (2) after the road goes to two lanes at Columbia. State Highway Patrol very active on this stretch. Story in Raleigh paper a few years ago about the trooper working this stretch of road writing the most tickets of any trooper in the state!

X2. Don't ask me how i know. That little snot nosed A$$ got me in Columbia. I did however wait until after my court date before i placed a call to his boss and went off on him with a generous barrage of verbal abuse.Didn't change a thing but it sure felt good. :M

  • US64 from Raleigh to Columbia, NC appears to be 4 lane divided highway most of the way with it narrowing to 2 lane for a couple of short stretches through towns. Looks like a piece of cake.
