2014 USA Ford Power Stroke. Ford dealer (large) Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan. Needed a crankshaft position sensor.
Parts man said "Lo siento. No tengo"
So the guy I was helping out forked over a hundred thirty dollars in pesos for the dealer to order one from Monterrey. Waited 8 days.
Part came in. Wrong mounting and wrong electrical clip. Parts man said "Esta la unica disponible" (It's the only one available for that model). I have WAY too much experience running into same year, same model, same engine parts that will not interchange. It is frustrating. Very few ECU computers can be interchanged. Same with peripherals. Mexico uses what the rest of the world uses. USA parts are commonly not findable. When you buy something, bolt it on and doesn't work, that means not compatible. No one EVER in Mexico refunds money for electrical returns. The Ford agency computer could not read USA error codes. Reality can be ugly. And it just isn't for new diesels. Gasoline models are the same way. I have a TWENTY YEAR OLD DODGE SPIRIT. Wanna know what refraccionarias tell me when I ask for a part for my car? Sus modelo no existe. Not in a 1995 catalog, not in a 2010 parts catalog.
A point about hanging a motorcycle on a vehicle. If Aduana thinks it is 500 CC's or larger, one person cannot get a TIP for it plus the RV. It must be smaller than 500 cc's. Provable to the Aduanero and to Banjercito. A sales literature that clearly defines the cycle as being 499 cc's or less is a great Get Out Of Jail Free card. Works instantly. State registration card with cc's listed is excellent too.
