Merely looking at vehicles on the road reveals some major differences. A Ford F-250, for example is usually 2 WD and the front leaf springs are occasionally traverse on Fords and GM pickups - you'll never see that in the US. I spent hours looking for a 7.3 liter diesel oil filter - no one had anything even close so I rinsed the old oil filter out well with gas and reinstalled it.
Even though Mexico pickups may resemble US and Canadian models I suspect there are few internal similarities.
Even between US models - same engine and model - just a year's difference means that the Engine Control Module probably will not interchange.
Spending time trying to find auto parts or repairs in Mexico has made me almost awestruck by how easy it is in the US to get the right part and often right off the shelf.
