As above take the by-pass or leave Raleigh going west to Greensboro and take 29 North, 29 is a four lane straight shot to C'ville.
This was my first thought too. Not interstate but very nice route with a little better scenery though a tad bit hilly though not bad. And it's 100x better than fighting I95.
