I'm moving to UVA in exactly one month, btw.
Thank You! the girls had heard of a fru-fru soup kitchen they wanted to try but I won. Beer...Meat...Good.
Michaels it was and worth the effort to find parking. Thanks for the heads up! - PenManExplorerBoy, this brings back memories. I graduated from UVa in 1977 but have not been back in the past ten or twelve years (moved home to NM when I retired). There were a couple of good restaurants in the downtown area which was converted to an open mall. There are lots of restaurants on Hwy. 29 which is one of the main roads but it has been so long I'd hate to recommend one. The best pizza restaurant when I was there was Barnaby's but the last time I was there it was gone. UVa is a great school. Have fun on your visit.

Reasonably close to grounds is http://www.beerrun.com/ - then, there is http://www.stmaartencafe.com/ - it's walking distance to the Rotunda. You will be at "The Corner" if you head to St. Maarten and there are a ton of choices there. If you are coming through Nelson County on rt 151, you should check out http://brewridgetrail.com/.
I am a 2x UVA grad and work in Cville...so, this was an easy question for me! - 4famfunExplorerMichie tavern is a neat experience
- abc40kidsExplorerNot too familiar with the area but my guess is there will be many options around a big campus like UVA.
