Case illustrates Canada's zero-tolerance gun policy

Taking a weapon across the Canadian border is not the only hazard for a camper or traveler. Some states, such as New Jersey, do not issue carry permits to non-law-enforcement individuals. There are strict limitations regarding how a gun can be transported, the size of ammo clips and kinds of ammunition that can be possessed within the state. Handguns in vehicles, for example, must be unloaded, locked in a gun safe and inaccessible to the driver. Having a handgun in a center console of the passenger compartment or having ammo clips that will hold more than ten rounds can get someone in big trouble.
