Leaving Redding Friday to Susanville to Reno (not towing). Would it be best to take 44 out of Redding to Susanville or... Go South on I-5 and pick up Highway 36 at Red Bluff over to Susanville? ...
The high point on 36 is at the junction with 89 (south entrance to Lassen), about 5600'. I encountered snow around there in a late May storm. I think 44 around the north side of Lassen is bit lower.
