Leaving Redding Friday to Susanville to Reno (not towing). Would it be best to take 44 out of Redding to Susanville or... Go South on I-5 and pick up Highway 36 at Red Bluff over to Susanville? ...

Thank you everyone for your replies. We are checking weather and taking advice on going 44 if weather is good and 70 if bad weather.
