Reported Armed Robbery Attempt Bahia Concepcion Baja Sur

Victim OPENED his motorhome door at 0200 hours in response to a cry for "agua". According to the report the American fought the two robbers one of which was wielding a knife. The steep steps, narrow passage and response of neighboring rigs to yells for help scared off the robbers.

Dammit, people do not heed hard earned advise. Install a BRIGHT porch light, two are better. NEVER OPEN THE DOOR AT NIGHT, unless the party announces they are police or military, AND you have verified this by looking out a window and seeing under your BRIGHTER LIGHTING that they are cops or the marines.

A DASHCAM mounted inside over the door looking down and looking outward, is one way to help nab less than honest people. Flip a switch and recording starts. Campers have multiple doors so cameras are more difficult to position.

The folks that I have talked with who did capture the face or faces of robbers reported a surprising high percentage of arrests. Mexican cops utilize 1920's technology to search and find crime suspects.

Yes I have links to the incident if you are interested in corroboration.

  • If your tow vehicle or motorhome has an alarm, put the panic button unit where you can find it easily at night if needed. If your alarm is going off in the night and you haven't opened the door, they will almost certainly leave, especially if you have neighbours. This applies to camping ANYWHERE in the world ! RYV
  • I really have NO idea why someone would open a door at night to a stranger! I lift at the gym three or four times a week, run, cycle, carry a hand gun and still would not open my door. Always look out the window first, talk through the window....... and light up the area if possible.
