Returning TIP Baja

Currently in La Paz and will probably hand in the 10 year TIP this time as I doubt whether we will be back in this motorhome.
I know you can get a TIP in La Paz if you are using the ferry, but is this also the place to return the TIP. If so, where in La Paz?

GPS coordinates or good directions would be very much appreciated. (if it is at Pichilingue Ferry Terminal and Banjercito, then I know roughly where that is

  • Yes, although I wouldn't be concerned by any effect an unexpired TIP would have on us because the chances of us wanting to return are between slim and zero, but I wouldn't like a new owner to get to the border and be refused entry.
  • Do remember, that they don't charge your credit card if your 10 year permit expires, and that when you want another one, if you have a new passport with another number, you are fine.

Courtesy does require that if you can, you return the permit.
  • OK thanks for that. I think I have it located fairly close on the GPs now so will see if I can get to it without going around and around in circles.

If not, and given that we will keep the Airstream for another few years which would make it close to 20 years old, it isn't all that likely a new owner would want to take it to Mexico anyway.
  • NO in LA PAZ. Don't waste your time confirming this...

    No EVERYWHERE else...

    Except One Place...

    The OTAY MESA border crossing

Northbound two blocks before you exit into the USA on your LEFT (West)

ADUANA is not on the main boulevard. It is a block away. Make that left. Park somewhere then scout it out on foot. This is a been-there-done-that tip. The aduaneros need to see your rig in person. Let them in the office make the arrangements so you can drive there for the exit procedure. Have someone stay with the rig. This isn't the best of neighborhoods.
