Rhode Island to Wisconsin
Doing this in late March...not sure yet if it will be the bus or a car. I'm not a fan of the NYS Thruway (I-90), but would this be a better ride than I-80? (But geez...the toll just in NY will be $3...

If it were me (and I have done both) would take I-84 to I-81 to I-80 to I-76 to I-71 to I-70 to
I-74 to I-39 to I-94 & North.
Seems round about, but you miss tolls & traffic on Ohio and Indiana toll roads and the traffic around the South of Chicago. Even if you were going to Eastern WI I would still recommend I-39 to avoid the traffic around the Chicago metro area.
