Ridgecrest CA to Death Valley

Sure hope they re-open the Trona/Panamint Valley route soon - it really feels like the Old West out there. Bleak and beautiful.

Did the run up thru Trono in our 40' MH with toad a couple of years ago and it was really a "fun run" trip. We even got used as target practise by a couple of Navy jets. They must have known we were from Bremerton. I do wish that they would let you know at the western end of Town Pass that there were up to 10% upgrades ahead.

One of my friends drove over to Panamint Valley yesterday and told me the road is still closed.

According to Death Valley National Park, Panamint Valley Road is still closed. It is my understanding that it will not reopen until spring of 2014. The link is to the DVNP Morning Report giving current conditions in the park.

You can always check California road conditions on the Caltrans website: http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi

Trona Road shows on the map as 178, and the Caltrans site says no traffic restrictions reported.
