Rainbirds and Talleyho - thanks for the thoughts
We have been to Yucatan with TT and 5th wheel a total of 4 times. We got a 2002 Roadrek because of the places you cannot take a 34' 5th wheel in Mexico (and if you do get it there, you might not get back out). We have been told about the orphanage and probably will stay there, but it is more like 2 to 3 hours away by bus. There is (at least was) an RV park in San Cristobal that takes small rigs).
We found the Class B sized Roadtrek worked great for boondocking 9 weeks in Newfoundland and Laabrador. Plan to take it to Haida Gwai this next summer.
What we heard was unfriendly folks that demand money for passage down the road. We have been to Palenque twice and would really enjoy spending time there again.
Mexico Mike has a good write-up on the trip and he seems to suggest doing it and he does talk about the locals wanting passage on the road for a few pesos. He suggests doing Boanapak and Agua Azul on the way. We have seen these befoe and they are worthwhile. Do want to see Yaxchilanarchaeologial site as well.
Thanks
Reed and Elaine
