road from Palenque to San Cristobal de Las Casas

Have heard horror stories about driving from Palenque to San Cristobal de las Casas in past years. Has it improved since then? It is about a day faster than going through Villahermosa. Reed and ...

A note about the orphanage...
They really appreciate white CFL bulbs and 14/2 Romex wire. When turning off the road to Ocozucuatla the orphanage is a full two miles up the side road on the right side and had a high arch on the entrance. The children were amazingly polite. Was considering a couple hundred cookies for my next trip. A thoroughly enjoyable stop for me.
