Robbed at gunpoint

A mechanic who helped me change a trailer spring on the side of the road on the cuota west of Villahermosa was robbed when he stopped to help someone fix a flat tire. It was a setup. I suspect someone saw him helping me and knew i would have paid him so set a trap further on. Just a reminder to not stop to help, call the green angels

  • I found a near-perfect solution that wouldn't work for most people.

Look so poor that when the sicarios are bent over double laughing at the futility of robbing you...you make your escape.

The only way to handle a gunpoint robbery is to cooperate slowly and carefully while nodding your head.
  • There is an uptick in vehicle assaults.

When driving around keep the windows closed and use the air/con and also make sure that the doors are locked, the individuals run up to the vehicle and either open the door or if the window is open stick a knife up to the person and demand the money and watches, purses, wallets etc. honking the horn with the knife next to you will only get you a slash and a nasty wound or death.

So doors locked and windows rolled up, this is going on in every big City, be aware of your situation, this is a random issue and the police are having a hard time with the assaults since they do not happen on a consistent pattern, different corners, different areas, different times of the day and specially at night.

  • At an intersection in Sonoyta last week I had a guy run up and open a bay door (note to self: don't forget to lock them).

I laid on the air horn for about 15 seconds and he ran off empty handed.
