When I used to help haul horses from the Finger Lakes racetrack We used to take 390 to 15 to Harrisburg then 81 to Winchester where we caught US 17 to I95 south of Washington. Just after getting on I95 (1-2 miles) there was/is a rest area were we would rest for an hour or two but people used to stay overnight.
If the area is full the next exit has a big mall were you can pull in and spend the night. I believe there is also a WALMART in the area.
