Rock Creek Campground Fire

A major fire swept through the Rock Creek area. The residents of the campground had to get out with the clothes on their backs, & lost all their possessions including rv's, trucks etc. Some local residents also lost houses. It's a bad situation. Don't plan on taking Hwy 3 in the near future!

  • Unbelievable how fast things can happen... We went through Rock Creek late in the morning on that day on our way to Penticton from Castlegar... and everything was fine...

Actually no RV's were lost at that campsite. Why do people blow things out of proportion?

Well, i was going by media reports (i know, don't trust everything you read!) But when you read quotes such as this "But there are reports quoting local RCMP who say several vehicles and RVs at the Kettle River provincial campground have burned, along with some nearby homes. " then i tend to believe them. That plus eyewitness reports & think maybe they have burned. Time will tell. I realize the media tend to sensationalize things, but somethings just don't need embellishing!
