When you head to Rocky Point, keep a few basic precautions in mind:
1. Always plan your travel so you are off the road by night fall.
2. Make 100% sure you have ZERO bullets or guns in your rig. If you are caught with even one bullet, you can wind up in a Mexican prison.
3. Do not camp in a remote area by yourself. Always try to travel and camp in groups.
4. Make sure you have your passport with you at all times. Make a copy of your passport and keep it in a safe place in case you have to go to the U.S. Consulate for a replacement.
5. Make sure you have a copy of any prescriptions you have, and keep all prescriptions in their original bottles.
6. Before you cross the border, purchase Mexican auto/RV insurance. Keep two sets of the documents in separate locations. If you lose one set, you'll have a back up.
There are many precautions you can take to assure your safety in Mexico. In my travels there, I've had very good experiences. Here are a few good websites to check out:

Excellent post but I do disagree with the need to travel in groups. There is not a need to travel in a group to Rocky Point. As safe as traveling to Phoenix or Tucson, LOL! :B
