Rocky Point

It's been at least 8 years since our last trip to Puerto Penasco. I think our small group is finally ready to return. We used to stay at Playa Bonita. I ready a recent review saying the electric was questionable and the pool was closed. Is it still as nice? Any comments? We thinking Feb or March. Thanks.
  • Just a quick reply from a guy who lives in Rocky Point and who works with a lot of RV clubs. If you are planning Rocky Point at Playa Bonita in 2017 Feb or Mar, you may want to make plans now as spaces will b at a premium. Playa Bonita fills up often during these times. Another choice on the same beach is The Reef RV park and in the mirador area is Playa de Oro. There is also a brand new park set to open for next season called Sunset RV park, it is close to Playa Bonita but not on the water. If you need assistance please let me know.

On edit, I too love Kino Bay and San Carlos and I still have lots of friends in those places and I have visited other places that I love so much, but I made my home in Rocky Point 10 years ago and never regret a day of that decision.
  • Have you considered Kino Bay or san carlos, both are within reach without a vehicle permit and much nicer, IMO. iN Mexico you should alwasy use a prtector against high or low voltage. They are about $275 and available from Surge Guard, progressive or camco. Note a surge protector is not enough.

Thanks, I know 50 amp is not needed and I can do nicely with 30. Just wanted to make sure the residential frig would be safe.

There were 4 of us there with residential refers and none went up in smoke

  • Been there for the past 8 years. I have had no problems with the power. If you decide you really need 50 amps, they will wire it up for an extra $20. I have never needed it. The hot tub can get pretty nasty especially when the wind has blown for a few days. You can always go to the hotel and use the pool there and it has always been clean.
