Rocky Point

Got here at the Reef RV park two days ago. Park has about 30 or so rv's in it. Weather is great.
In case anyone's interested, the dry camping area at Sandy Beach, next to the Reef.................is closed. We saw alot of rv's over at the other dry camping area next to the Playa Bonita. The Wrecked at the Reef restaurant is supposed to be open this weekend.

The park is open. The construction of the Marina continues. Looks like they're taking a break today and having some type of ceremony on th abit, but we don't think its that bad.

If anyone's interested, I'll post some photos.

  • I am a local here to help you guys, let me know. Had a meeting with Gus Brown the other day at the Home Port groundbreaking ceremony. No reservations at the RV Park past Dec of 2014 right now for the Reef RV park but that is fluid. I will know the status week to week as I run caravans into the park. All future caravans should meet with me or someone else local for 2015 reservations in Puerto Peñasco, this place is going big and going strong. Vamanos a Mexico!

Thanks. See you Monday PM. Assume there is no need for a reservation. If that changes please give me a heads up.

Naah plenty of spots left. There's only about 30 rv's in the park. It'll hold a couple of hundred.
  • Do remember that most, at least in California, policies cover all but liability in Mexico, without an extra charge. If you purchase more than just basic liability, it's a waste. I pay less than $160. US for 6 months of very high end liability through Lewis and Lewis. Check the insurance clicky.

  • Hey bill,

Yeah the insurance varies . We use a company in town. Yes thatvroute is still good. If you miss it. Don't sweat it jus continue on until you hit the road construction on the main drag . They are doing new paving. Make right turn and continue on to the Pemex station at the traffic circle. Follow the road along the high rise hotels until it turns to dirt and look for the reef on the left

Rates are 35 a night for beach front and 23 for non beach. Cheaper by the month
  • Hi Phil. We are planning to head down Monday. Any idea what the day/weekly rates are? Still can't make their web site work. We plan to stay one or two weeks, depending on how we enjoy it. Leaving some great weather here.

The route in you described, right at the traffic circle north of town and left after the tracks still good? The road doesn't show on most maps.

Surprised at the cost of insurance. Will probably just get liability as we pass through Ajo.

Looking forward to it. Bill and Elma
