Loonies and twonies...we don't have one and 2 dollar bills...we have metal discs...loonies and twoonies. Just like paper only heavier in the pocket.
ATM's don't give 'change'..just bills. Most/all laundromats have change machines..you put in twoonie or loonies..or a bill and just like Vegas...get a handful of change back.

Gary --- Thanks. But should I assume the change the machine gives back is the equivalent of an American quarter???? Is there a Canadian quarter? My wife has a saved large bag of US quarters to use when we are in the states only. - Mover480ExplorerWe're leaving Monday, be back sometime in October.
- PghBobExplorerRemember that in a lot of Canadian campgrounds you will need loonies for the showers as well. So, make sure to have a fair amount of loonies for your needs.

Wife just asked ---- In Canada how do I pay for cloths washing and drying. Do they take Loonies & Toonies? Coin changer for bills? We have Canadian cash now and the smallest is 5 dollar bills.
I understand, and hope my information is correct, that after crossing into Canada I can get Canadian currency from any ATM using my credit card or debit card with a cash advance. Plan to get CAD after crossing border then find a store to cash bills into Loonies and Toonies for this like your wife wants -- washing clothes!

I created a new topic then was directed to this 2017 Roll Call to Alaska. Anyone here still heading up to Alaska in the first half of June? I plan to leave north central Florida heading to a boondocking spot in the Badlands south of Wall.
Wondering if there are others on this same path?

Leaving from Dallas/Ft. Worth in about 10 days or so for my trip north. Not looking forward to the snow on some part sod the highway, but I need to be there by mid-June to meet up with friends. - KidooExplorerIt was the same when I went in 2012 in this area, we had a snow storm. We made it to Fort Nelson and the next we went up Steamboat pass I think, and stopped there with over a foot of snow.
