I usually take two trips a year to western Mt and always use 212 from Belle Fourche. It's much shorter than 90. Also if you're coming from Rapid City take exit 23 just before Spearfish for highway 34 it's a shorter way into Belle Fourche. Both routes have scenic views of hills. When I came though there in June part of 212 was being completely reconstructed with less short hills and dips. The road was also being redone in Lame Deer. The climb out of Lame deer is about the steepest and you're starting from a stop maybe a 1/2 mi away. When I'm going through there I'm pulling a 38 ft bumper pull car trailer. What are you pulling with? Also there is fuel in Broadus and a rest area on the east side of town
