- GreyghostExplorerWe're in Coulter Bay Village non-hookup sites. We plan on staying here for the next four days. Billings to Cody to Yellowstone was a snap. No bad weather but OH the view into Yellowstone.
- GreyghostExplorerThanks for the heads up everyone. Beartooth is still closed as of 5:32 this AM. Looks like we'll be heading for the east entrance but that could change as the morning progresses. We don't plan on spending any time in Yellowstone we're using it as a pass through to Jackson and points south. Decision time will come when we get to Cody WY.
- J-RoosterExplorerGreyghost, keep an eye out on the weather! Hurricane Lester which missed Hawaii turned way North and hit the jet stream coming into Washington State. Really disappointing to me I went to watch the World of Outlaws (dirt sprint cars) tonight and it was canceled too much rain. And now it's headed your way.
- kknowltonExplorer IISnowfall has left icy road conditions on the Wyoming side last night & today. I personally wouldn't do it with that large a rig, but going north to south is probably better than south to north (see Mountain Directory West for details). In any case, be sure to check the weather and road reports before you start out.
- wildmanbakerExplorerWe just left the Tetons this morning, and the weather is changing in a big hurry, toward winter. The temp last night was 39. It had dropped every night for the 5 days we were there. We were in Yellowstone for 5 days before that, and the nights were in the mid, to low 30s. Be warned, rain becomes major snow very fast.

- polly_sueExplorerNo worries!! Be safe and enjoy! I hope the road is open all the way in the morning!
- GreyghostExplorerMowermech, I'm still in Billings, we plan on heading out tomorrow AM. I don't have any breathing issues yet but who knows, I may find out tomorrow that I do.
Thanks for the caution and the weather update. I'll check it again first thing before we leave. If all else fails we can head south on 120 and hopefully get through. We're at the Walmart in Laurel, we had planned on going on to Red Lodge, but I think it's best to wait.
Polly Sue - I hate the spell corrector on my cell phone. I did spell your name correctly but the darn phone fixed it for me - mowermechExplorerIf you have any breathing issues, think about it long and hard before you go up there. It tops out at nearly 11,000 feet.
The last time we went up there, I began having breathing distress at about the 9,000 foot level, and by the time we got to the top, well, let's just say my wife, the nurse, was VERY unhappy with my insistence that I could make it!
COPD and Beartooth Pass are not a good mix! I won't be going back.
By the way, the Pass is currently closed on the Wyoming side due to snow. While it will likely reopen, it could close again any time at this time of year, and no one knows when the closure will be for the remainder of the winter!
