Billing.

I am not sure of just where this should be posted, please move if I choose the wrong place.

While reviewing my bank statement online this morning I came across a billing from Good Sam for $20.00. Billing statement said, “GSE Good Sam GSE”, this was charged to my credit card. I have done a search on the website and can’t come up with any explanation of what “GSE” refers to.

Please help me here as I have no clue of what I bought for $20.00.
Thanks for all replies, Bill.

  • Hello All,

The reason for Early renewals is to ensure no lapse in coverage, whether for Club Membership or Roadside Assistance. Most of our members travel at different times throughout the year, and we want to give our members every opportunity to stay current on their membership dues without experiencing a lapse in benefits. Some of our members choose to renew early, prior to leaving on vacation, while others choose to renew after returning home. In either case, since we don’t know our members’ individual travel plans it’s easier to send multiple renewal notices for the convenience of all members, regardless of their schedule. Please keep in mind that we always simply add your renewal to your current expiration date, and Automatic Renewal is 100% voluntary.

  • Sorry gotsmart, but neither my TV(Dish) nor cellular(Verizon) companies bill me in advance of the service date. In fact, both are set up for automatic billing to my credit card, and bill on the exact date for service, which is not one month prior to the expiration of service. My Internet Service Provider is the same way. Why do we allow Good Sam to slide on this issue? In fact, they try to bait subscriber's to renew more than 3 months in advance of the renewal date.

So Good Sam charged you for renewal over one month before the actual expiration? Did you ask for any special compensation for using your funds for one month? Is this normal? Yes it is. I know it is only $20, but there should be some reason why they are charging customers in advance of the renewal date. Look at your cable TV bill and your cell phone bill (assuming you phone is on a contract). The bill you get is for the next billing cycle. A credit card with an annual fee will ding you for the fee in the billing cycle prior to the anniversary date of the fee. It is a standard practice of businesses that offer a subscription service.

  • Mr. Gude, Thank you for the quick reply. You are absolutely correct, it is for my membership. After checking the expiration date on my card (6/30/13) it all made sense to me. The GSE is what got me off track in my thinking.

RognBon, Yes I have authorized GS to use my credit card for the renewal of my membership. This was done last year and this is the first renewal using the card.

Thanks again for the replies, have a good weekend and safe travels, Bill.
  • At some point in the past you used the same credit card when you paid your annual dues to GoodSam and agreed to automatic billing in the future. You should have received a postcard 30 days prior to renewal time letting you know that the same card would be charged. That is how it works with me. I have been on automatic renewal for many years. It works for me, but may not be suitable for everyone. I believe the GSE refers to Good Sam Enterprises.
  • Hello Bill,

Thank you for your post. GSE stands for Good Sam Enterprises. It sounds like this would be a renewal on your Good Sam Club membership. If you have any questions you can contact Member Services 24 hours a day at 1-800-234-3450. Thank you for your membership.
