- RVcrazyExplorerWe just did 299 from Redding. Lots of construction going on that will take years to complete!!! We would have needed to backtrack from Red Bluff, so we did it anyway. Also, lots of long, steep grades... Love our truck :-)
- PaintsExplorerThanks Dennis...
- Executive45Explorer IIIThe casino also owns a full hook up campground if you'd rather go that way. It's called the Aurora RV Park. Down the road a piece from the casino, right across from the lake. Also, their fuel is by far the cheapest of any in the area so be sure to fill up there....Dennis
- PaintsExplorerThanks for the Clear Lake idea. That was what we were thinking we would do.. And for the heads up on the Casino..

We decided to go a different way.. I got on the Cal Trans website and there is allot of construction..
Travel safe everyone...
My vote is for Hwy. 20 through Clear Lake to 101. There is a nice Indian Casino about 1/2 to 101 on the right hand side going west. You can also stay overnight free. no hook ups. - PaintsExplorerThanks everyone for all your help.. I tell everyone how helpful this forum is..

Travel safe everyone... - cpaulsenExplorerTrucks use it all the time. Approx. 3 hour drive. I used it all the time to get to the coast from Redding.

We are 40 feet with a Jeep.. Is this road a pretty good one?
Thanks in advance
Where are you coming from?? That would make a difference. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIIt's not a difficult highway but it's too curvy and slow to enjoy it, in our opinion.
