Route 6 from Bremen, IN to Sandusky OH

Does anyone know the condition of this part of U.S. Route 6? We had such terrific advice re: our route east along I-90 from Washington, I'm hoping to find similar help for the final leg of our trip to NY.

During this trip, my daughter in NY died of ALS so we're on a hurry-up schedule (have been since Coeur d'Alene ID)...staying only one night at each campground. Service is 9/5/14 and we'll make it!!

  • I have taken 6 many times to avoid tolls in IN and OH. It is a smooth 2 lane with some small towns you have to go through. The traffic has never been bad, sometimes you get someone ahead of you that is going slower than you want to go but you can make pretty good time on 6. I wouldn't think twice about it...jump on and go. Very sorry to hear about your daughter. Safe trip.
  • Thanks, Gary. We have no problem going from Sandusky to Erie. It's just going from Bremen to Sandusky that we wonder what Route 6 is like.
  • From Sandusky take RT2 East. Rt 2 will merge into 90 East. 90 will take you all the way to Erie with no tolls.
  • Thank you, Gary. We're not "doing" I-90/I-80 in Ohio 'cause it's a toll road. After Sandusky (2 nights), we'll pick up I80 and head north to Erie PA.
  • I live minutes off of route 90 just west of Cleveland. If your heading this way and there is anything you need feel free to let me know.
