I can see we have a lot of reading to do before we plan that trip! Thanks for all the input. We were delighted to come across the Route 66 memorial rest stop photos on this website ten years ago. Route 66 is sentimental to me because my parents were part of the dust bowl survivors who left Oklahoma for California as newlyweds in 1938. It's always been a part of our family history.
