- goducks10ExplorerHwy 20 is fine. It's almost but ugly out in eastern OR on that hwy. When we're heading east we prefer hwy 26. It's a gorgeous drive but an hour longer though.
- RedRollingRoadbExplorerThat is the way I'd go. Been years since I was on 20 east of Bend, but was decent road then.

You've got that right. Not much to see along that route - Y-GuyModeratorHighway 20 is a pretty easy drive, watch for the open range areas. Once you hit Juntura the highway starts getting some curves, but nothing crazy. It will straighten out before Harper, but the last leg of those curves are probably the most intense of the drive - just watch your speed. The route takes you up to Ontario, I do suggest taking I84 South to Caldwell.
Do keep an eye on TripCheck.com before you head out in case there are any fires en-route. - HamnetExplorerThank you all for your input. Will probably use Hwy 20 through Burns.
- HamnetExplorerAfter thinking, look to take Hwy 26. May stay in John Day. Spent many a summers in Fossil and know that ugly terrain.
- donkeydewExplorerthe rv park the city owns at the fair grounds in John Day is a real nice park.
