Hwy 20 from Picabo ID to Caldwell ID

When using BaseCamp to create our route from Picabo to Caldwell I'm receiving two different routes depending on the mode (RV or driving).

RV mode suggests I backtrack to Carey and follow the 26 until reaching the 84, however while in driving mode it routes us on the 20 to connect to the 84 (about 1/2 hour difference). See plenty of big rigs traveling down the 20 however I'm not sure of their origination.

While we drove down the 20 from Idaho Falls without concern, I'm not sure if there's anything to prevent us from continuing on the same highway.

20 is fine, we use it all the time when the daughter is in sun valley.

Thanks for the input. Looked over google earth and checked for height restrictions and didn't see anything, so it appears we're safe on the 20.

We stayed at Picabo Angler RV park. That was was AWESOME in a small town/not much there kind of way.

We have been here at the park for a week. Must be a well kept secret as it's been pretty empty here. The wife has been driving to Sun Valley to visit friends and doing ice skating.

Moving on to Caldwell and will stay at the Ambassador RV park for a couple weeks.

  • We stayed at Picabo Angler RV park. That was was AWESOME in a small town/not much there kind of way. If you're into driving trails, there was a cool trail up through the mountain that took me over to Bellevue.

There was a BLM campground in the area and then Bellevue had BLM campsites.

Anyway- if I recall, we took 20 to 26 to 84 when we went from Picabo to La Grande, OR. No real reason other than Google Maps said to while my wife was driving + navigating.
  • 26 is more straight and level 20 has more elevation changes and turns. There is nothing wrong with 20 but we use 26 because DW wants it that way!
