4 corners is among my favorite areas of the country. Roads are pretty good.
You can either take 191 all the way down to 40, or cut over to Shiprock and down on 491 to 40. The first way you pass Chinle and Ganado, both worth a stop, but that road is pretty desolate. The Shiprock route is a bit busier, and you can visit the 4 corners monument for about 15 minutes! I've also run 550 from Farmington to north of Albuquerque, and that was also a neat drive.
Either way, fuel up at Moab or Monticello. Fuel out on the reservation was not cheap last time I went through there.
