Route from Springfield MO to South Padre Island

Need advice about US 69 from Big Cabin OK to TX border.  We don't like stop and go traffic, so are considering I-44 to OK city and South on I-35.  Anyone travel those roads in recent few years?  Than...

We made the trip from Jefferson City to Austin a while back. Highway 69 is the same as always, town after town. If you don’t like stop and go, head to highway 35
