Route question, Alturas Ca to Bend Or
Just curious as to routing... When we left The Likely Place this morning we just automatically set out Garmin to Bend and took our normal route through K. Falls and 97... Our Garmin kept wanting to ...

Lakeview to Bend, approx 165 miles via 31. Same route via 140 Lakeview to KFalls about 300 miles. 100 miles Lakeview to KFalls and another 180 or so miles to Bend. 140 has 24 hour flagger on it. 140 crosses two 5100+ passes, 31 crosses one. 140 is mostly wooded highway travel speed is 55. 31 traverses mostly open flat desert with about 30 miles in the woods. Travel speed is 65, but is so rough your lucky to maintain 50 without beating you to death. We just returned from a month in the area. There is no clear winner, just whether you want to travel on a lightly used rough road. Or dont mind a lot of two lane traffic.
