Rt 30 York to Pittsburgh Pa

Has anyone traveled Rt 30. Our plan takes us on Rt 30 from York Pa to Pittsburgh. It looks like a nice road, we were just wandering about underpasses or any unusually steep grades.
Thanks

  • A couple of years ago we picked up route 30 at Greensburg heading east to NJ. Everything was OK until we got to Laurel Mountain, which was a steep climb using lower gear with a couple of sharp curves. I recall stopping at the top to take a break. More up and down further east and we were happy to get back onto the PA Turnpike at Breezewood.
  • The road is decent and I don't know of any overpass problems.
However, west of Chambersburg you get into the mountains and there are some fairly steep grades.
If you go that route, stop and see the Flight 93 Memorial, it's along Rt 30.
