traveling hwy 93 mt. from lolo to challis id. then hwy 75 to sun valley idaho 35 foot motor home with toad early july. road conditions, points of intrest and most important rv parks on this route thanks
Agree on Torrey's. They have one big, long pull through site so if you have a general idea of when you'll be passing through, call them and make a reservation. Here's their website.
Hwy 93 just north of Carmen, Id is a great BLM campground with at least two pull through sites, Tower Rock. Website with a good overview pic
We camped in Challis at the hot springs cg, it was OK. There is a ghost town between Challis and Stanley. Baytown? Worth a stop but I would not tow an rv up the road. And of course a few people think the Sawtooth mountains around Stanley are worth mentioning.
We spent a nice, quiet night at Torrey's several years ago. Nice owners, with a few food items for sale. Other than that, it will be dry camping in many spots along the river or FS campgrounds. None of them impressed us as they were old, with small sites jammed together. When we were there last, most of the campsites had standing water from recent floods.
You'll have a dandy pass to go over on the MT-ID line heading south toward Salmon & Challis. Take it easy. there's a nice rest area at the top (7000+ feet), lots of switchbacks southbound on the Idaho side. Pretty scenery! We weren't too impressed with campgrounds in/around Salmon. Haven't camped in Challis yet, though the golf course gets good reviews. Depending on which way you go to Sun Valley, there's a nice, small one between Challis & Salmon, Torrey's Resort. Beautiful spot - we loved it. Or Arco has a nice KOA, well off the road so pretty quiet.
