RV parts in Guaymas?

Hey Again :)

I am having issue with my black tank dup valve and am looking at replacing it. I keep a spare but had hoped not to need it. When I gave in and decided that it needs to be replaced I found that my spare is not where I thought it was... I must have left it in the other 5er.

Does anyone know of a place in San Carlos or Guaymas that carries RV parts?

Thanks

Steve

  • If you have the same type of valve - the standard sort of Guillotine - with the blade held between a rubber seal - you might find gunk at the bottom of the seal that can be cleared out with something like a coat hanger type wire. It is not a fun job. I fixed ours once just digging gunk out of there. Some people take the valve out to fix them. A lot of cleaning and rinsing and then if you can jack that side up to get anything left in the tank to slosh away from the outlet. 4 bolts/nuts take the valve out. Be careful to sort of pivot the valve out and insert something between the pipes to keep the slot open for when you put the valve back in. You might even try some rubber lube on the seals. We will be down that way but not for another month so not much help here other than suggestions.
  • Thanks for the suggestions.
The valve appears to close but does not completely seal. I spoke with Joseph and his plumber yesterday and they don't have any source.

I checked on having one shipped here and in order to have a chance of getting it here before I have to leave would cost $75+.

As long as I am hooked up at the park or have the cap in place it is not a "biohazard" issue. If I dump and flush before I disconnect and don't use the toilet while disconnected then I will survive. As long as I dump the black and add significant water every other day to keep the smell under control I can wait till we get back NOB.

However... If anyone is on their way to San Carlos or Guaymas, and may be stopping at a Camping World on the way, I can have one paid for and waiting for pickup. Dinner on me if you could carry the parts down.

    Thanks

  • Have You spoken to Joe at Totonaka, He usually knows where to find a few parts locally or may have the name and email of someone coming down soon!
Also DHL is a very good Courier to use if You want to order a Valve to be shipped!

I would offer to bring one to You except I won't be into Mexico until around Nov 15 .

You might be better off to make a run to Nogales to get one there!
  • Have you taken the valve apart. If it is not closing you can clean it out and it may work. If I were in Kino I have a complete valve but alas am in Canada. That part is not normally available in Mexico unless an RV park has one. Ask around the RV park. Maybe another camper has the valve.

  • Hate to say it Steve but your best bet is to run back to Tucson. You will lose two days but that maybe the best choice. Look at the silver lining, you are still within one day of Tucson.

  • Post an URGENT note in the RV park office, the high seniority campers in the park usually have long-ago ferreted out every last source for every last part in Guaymas.
