S. Carolina Roads

I have not seen any comments on the highways in South Carolina that we may need heading to Florida.Hwy 77, Hwy 26, and Hwy 95 are they O.K. to use? or were they damaged by the storms?

I95 was still reporting being closed in one spot near I26 and the delays to drive around it are up to a couple of hours... They have many bridges over run on the back roads...

Need to work around that area if at all possible...

There was recent good report on here a few threads down...

  • If going down I-95 (which is the only major road closed) you can exit onto I-20 to Columbia and pick up I-26 there and get back on I-95, this is a 160 mile detour but if you deduct the miles you will not travel on I-95 it is only about 80 miles. Google and map quest says it will add 75 minutes to your travel time. You can go to the South Carolina Dept of Public Safety at www.scdps.gov and look at press release for 10/9 and get the roads open and closed. There is some bad info on rvnet.
  • why are you routing yourself thru SC? from Wisc to Florida I would avoid the East coast until the last moment, unless you have some other reason to go there.
