Sacramento to South Carolina

Just to clarify, I'm asking for a neighbor who may be moving to S.C. No dillydallying, just looking for the most direct route.

This trucker has several videos of driving US 50 and US 95.

50 is one of those used to be major highways. At one point or another we have done most of it now. Sacramento to Ocean City, MD.

Assuming that time is not a problem take 50 as far east as west of the Appalachians then figure a way over the mountains & SE to SC.

BTW. 40 don't go to South Carolina. You would have to pick up I-26 at the top of the mountain to go down into SC.

What time of year? What part of SC? Getting down to I-10 and taking it all the way across or picking up I-20 would be one of the flattest ways you could go and, if you're planning on doing it within the next 3 months, would likely have more advantageous weather and road conditions. Do you need to "get there" or can you meander some?

Seems I remember from my travels. I-40 is a mountain filled route. We always took the Southern Route. We ran 85 out of the Carolinas to 20 in Atlanta to 10 in Texas and on to California.
was a really flat way to go. hardly any mountains at all. The bets way to go, especially in the winter.

Seems like every time I get on 40 out West it is laoded down with many Tractor Trailer Trucks... They seem to run in groups haha... Other than that 40 will take you to good South Road to run down into S Carolina...

Back in the day it was actually fun driving the 40 Interstate... This was in the CB RADIO era... We would all run together and make thw same road stops. Met alot of great friends back then...

:B Pretty hard to leave CA without encountering hills.

Love 40. So many opportunities to jump off on historic 66. Rarely take any other road. Can be iffy in Tex and Ok during tornado season.

Mountain Directory West would be a good resource. Stick to the interstates for the least mountainous routes.
Have you considered United, American or Southwest?
