Sacto area to Pismo
Went there before and took the 5 to 152 then 101. Was wondering if it's any better staying on 5 to 41 to SLO then Pismo? Thx.

- I've gone the 5 to 41 many times, it's a very good road, there was some construction near Paso Robles. I think this route has less traffic, and not nearly as many trucks.
- I'd take 41, 46, 101. Be very careful at the James Dean 41/46 intersection as he's not the last to have died there.

5 to 41 best! 152 has some hill up and downs. You have to watch the winds!- A friend does this route all the time. She hits 101 much further up and avoids all the hills (but she gets a toll). With her rig the lack of hills is her preferred route. It does make for an easy but rather boring drive

The 101 elevations/grades into Pismo are almost the same as 46. But 101 is 4 lane or perhaps she has alternate routes.

If you make side stops, then yes it wouldn't be as boring. Going straight through it was just a big highway. :)
As for the hills, I don't think she's done 46, but I think she prefers 101 for the ability to not impede traffic, pull over over, etc., if she drives slower.
