You can definitely die from untreated dental issues.
Most people don't, because the pain is so intense that they do something about it first. At home, if they have to.
But I knew someone with a very high pain tolerance, urgent issues at work taking all his attention, and a severe fear of dentists. Result: A tooth infection traveled up into his brain. He was hospitalised with delusions and had emergency brain surgery. Surgeon said he was days away from death when he was taken to the hospital.
