I have had one operation and a procedure in a Mexican private hospital. I have also seen many specialists in those private hospitals. My wife had surgery in the same private hospital. Both of us have accompanied Mexican friends to IMSS Hospitals many times. Have seen the facilities and spoken to the Drs.. We often use a local clinic that offers Seguro coverage. A disaster. The IMSS hospital is no better. Beyond 3rd world. The General Hospital in Hermosillo (IMSS) is also a facility that I would not use. The armed guard is at the door in the private hospital every day! Has nothing to do with Gringos. Just their policy. There are some very nice IMSS hospitals but not in Sonora!
