Can we not deviate, please? Nearing my retirement, I would really like to hear more about Seguro Popular. Dental costs and availability is NOT a problem in Mexico, whether you do this urgent or planned. If anything, urgent dental visit in Mexico would not be a bad thing for my finances, compared to Canada.
Btw (answering some other post) - one can stay in Mexico less than 7 months (to comply with Canadian provincial plan) and still be eligible for Seguro. All you need for Seguro is RP status and Mex address. Technically, Canada "might" consider your Mex RP as a proof of severing residential ties with Canada and thus becoming ineligible for Canadian provincial plan, but this would be a long shot for them. As I recall, our feds require a bit more to consider you a non-resident.
And, don't forget about 2 years exemption once every 5 years - you can travel for 2 years and keep your provincial plan.
