San Francisco

Does anyone know a campground near San Fran that is accessible by public transit into the city? We are in a 35ft 5th
  • Don't know of any RV parks with BART in walking distance. The Fair Park in Pleasanton is close to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station. Perhaps there is a shuttle or bus from the RV park.

Trying to drive to the BART stations weekdays is a challenge. Most of the parking lots fill by 8am. It is possible to reserve a spot online at some of the lots ahead of time.

On our last trip we went ahead and drove into SF. Kids wanted to drive across the bridges anyways. We parked in the open lot on fishermans wharf, then road the electric buses or cable cars around town.
  • We're going up Tuesday for a stay at the KOA in Petaluma. There is some kind of shuttle service to SF. check their website.
  • We stayed at Anthony Chabot in Oakland several years ago. You can drive out of the park and leave your vehicle in the BART lot and it takes you to S.F.
  • We stayed at the San Francisco RV resort. I believe they have a shuttle into downtown or for about $15 you can get a cab to the closest Bart station. We rented a car from enterprise which has an office about 2 blocks from the resort. Decent place with a great view of the ocean.
  • x2 on Anthony Chabot in Oakland, great secluded campground in the hills, 10 minutes from the bart station. al c.
  • Agree about the San Francisco RV Resort. We stayed there two weeks this past August and used the BART frequently. We drove to the station, never had a problem with parking. We even went to an A's baseball game on free parking night! Many days we elected to drive our toad instead of taking the BART in depending upon where we were visiting. Good place and reasonable considering where you are. Parking downtown is available but very expensive ... to the tune of $3.00 for 20 minutes with a max out of $45.00! You can get some parking paid for via validation in Ghiardelli Square, Pier 39, and Fisherman's Wharf.
  • Another consideration, Tradewinds RV park in Vallejo. Short drive to the parking lot and take the ferry to SF (about one hour ride).
Or drive to the Richmond station and take BART to SF.

As mentioned the Alameda County fairgrounds in Pleasanton may have a bus to the Dublin BART station. The Rv park area isn't much but does have full hookups. Chabot regional park has 12 RV sites with full hookups (30 amp).
