Seattle to Orlando, and to the KEYS questions

I'm planning a trip to Orlando and the KEYS I'm thinking of driving down in my toyota camry

about how long would take, and if I go across the mid-west and down would I run into a lot of snow? or would it be better to go south, and then east? and also what is that highway that is consider has a drug highway that they stop you regardless?

I'm planning on leaving on Jan 28th,and coming back on FEB 14 on leaving

  • Take RT South West Air to ORL, then take RT Enterprise to the Keys. Unless you are a family of 4 with multiple drivers for nonstop Banzai runs.
  • Having driven all those routes in winter, unless you watch the weather reports real close and get real lucky, your best bet is I-5 to I-10, then East. Unless you are waiting until late spring, the other routes can sure trip you up with snow and closed roads. Time-wise, the extra miles won't mean much since you'll be able to drive the limit all the way. Several days of slushy, 35 mph roads (and a closure or two) wreaks havoc with schedules. Ask a trucker.....
  • I've driven I10, I95 and I75 for 30 years in all sorts of vehicles and have never been pulled over and those are three of the biggest "drug routes". Don't speed, tailgate or drive recklessly and use your turn signals and you won't be bothered.
  • Use the directions feature on Google Maps to get time and distance between cities.

Check with the National Weather Service or local weather reports along your route.
