Seattle to the desert in february

Question

We've weathered the pass between Bend, Oregon and the fog of Oregon coast.  We're planning on heading south in February to Southern California.  Wondering about routes to avoid the Siskiyous.  Would an alternative route be to take 199 west out of Grants pass ?  Or wait for weather to break and stay on I-5?  40' diesel pusher, new drivers.

I-5 to Southern Calif. or I-5 to Hwy. 46 to Hwy. 99, then 58 east to the desert areas.

Plenty of places to stay in Grants Pass and Medford if the weather is bad. Hit the Siskiyous around mid to late morning. Let the plows get done and the semi's to keep the road clear.

I-5 really is your easiest route, unless you want to cut over and drive along the coast.
