Careful driving south of the great lakes.
Actually, I would cross over into Canada at Detroit and drive north of Lake Erie.
This was last years November snow storm near Buffalo (south of Lake Erie).
That picture was of the NYS Thruway.
I live in Western NY and am towing my camper down to Kentucky in October to store it for a few months. I will pick it up there in January and continue on to Florida. I will not chance driving south of the lake TOWING anything in the dead of winter.
I told my husband this morning that we needed to avoid Buffalo at all costs due to lake effect snow.. Train is an awesome idea but we are then going down to Texas to visit relatives and will need a car Since we won't be under any time crunches we will most certainly keep an eye on the weather and duck in if we see any problems. I'll keep the ice chest and thermos filled so if we get stuck at a hotel, we can wait it out. Thanks all.
