Seeking advice on driving from Nogales to Ixtapa
We are planning to drive to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo leaving Nogales on November 26th. What is the best route to take and how is the safety now for American drivers along that route?

We highly recommend bypassing Morelia completely. The new toll bypass road leaves 15D about 15 kilometers before you get to the turn off for Morelia. It is clearly marked (for Patzcuaro) and you get to skip the entire city and the hassle. Same is true for Guadalajara and Mazatlan.
